A Travelling Tribute to Two Centuries of Innovation
Weighwell Engineering Ltd is proud to support the landmark Railway 200 celebrations. Our role involved weighing a Mark 3 Generator Van, which plays a pivotal role in supporting Inspiration – the exhibition train that honours 200 years of railway history.
The Railway 200 initiative commemorates the bicentenary of the world’s first passenger railway journey, which took place between Stockton and Darlington in 1825. As part of a programme of events across the UK, Inspiration will tour with its onboard exhibition, sharing the story of Britain’s railways with communities nationwide.
The exhibition highlights the railway’s impact over the past two centuries. At the same time, it aims to inspire the next generation with the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Weighing the Mark 3 Coach with Precision
Ahead of Inspiration’s public debut, Weighwell worked closely with Network Rail to confirm the Mark 3 Generator Van’s weight distribution. The weighing took place in Great Yarmouth using one of our hire systems.
Using our Portable Train Weigher (PTW), we delivered precise measurements and detailed reporting, without the need for any fixed or permanent track modifications.
